18+ Music Bar – PULANG ke UTTARA

18+ takes its name from where it sits: the 18th floor and roof of PULANG ke UTTARA, an art-filled hotel on Jalan Kaliurang KM 5.5, north of the city centre near the UGM campus. From the top the view runs right round Yogyakarta, and on a clear evening Mount Merapi stands out to the north above the rooftops, which makes sunset the busiest time to arrive.

It is a music bar first. The sound is built around a vintage RAMSA WS9000F system, and each night of the week has its own programme, from 80s club classics and R&B to a strictly jazz night, house on Fridays, disco on Saturdays and a Sunday reset. The bar serves classic and signature cocktails and is known for one of the larger single-malt whisky selections in town, with a dine-in food menu alongside.

You don't need to be staying at the hotel to go up. Hours change with the programme, so check the bar's Instagram for the night's line-up, and book ahead through the hotel for groups or private events.
