Copacabana Rooftop Diner

Copacabana is a rooftop bar and diner on the fourth floor of a building on Tha Phae Road, a few doors from Tha Phae Gate on the eastern edge of Chiang Mai's Old City. You reach it through the noodle bar on the ground floor, and up top the terrace looks straight down on the gate, the moat and the evening traffic and street vendors, with the mountains beyond.

The look is bohemian beach shack, with a thatched bar, palm fronds, fairy lights and a mix of high tables and stools under a part-covered roof. The cocktail list is built for sunset, and the food is for sharing: Time Out singles out the crispy pork and spring rolls. Chilled DJ sets play through the evening.

Copacabana opens daily from 5.30pm to midnight. Prices are moderate, dress is casual, and it is a handy first stop before the Sunday Walking Street or a night out around Tha Phae Road. Call +66 64 796 9699 to check on tables.
