MAI The Sky Bar crowns Meliá Chiang Mai on Charoenprathet Road, between the Night Bazaar and the Ping River. From the 21st floor it is the tallest rooftop in a city of low buildings, so the open decks take in a full circle: the river and the east bank on one side, the old city and the dark ridge of Doi Suthep on the other, which is where the sun sets.
The space is split across levels, with a glassed-in bar for the hot or rainy months and timber decks set with low sofas, lanterns and armchairs along the glass edge. The menu reflects the Spanish hotel group behind it, with Spanish tapas served alongside the signature cocktails and a solid wine and spirits list.
It won a Tatler Best Spotlight award for 2026. Reservations are taken by phone, and it is worth booking a rail-side table for sunset in the cool season. It suits couples and visitors wanting the definitive high view of Chiang Mai with a glass in hand.
