Rooftop Bar – sala lanna Chiang Mai

This rooftop bar sits on top of sala lanna, a small design hotel on Charoenrat Road in the Wat Ket neighbourhood, on the quieter east bank of the Ping River. It is only a few storeys up, but the riverside position gives it an open outlook over the water, the hotel pool below and, beyond the city, the outline of Doi Suthep, where the sun goes down.

The terrace is laid out with long built-in sofas, low tables and paper lanterns strung overhead, plus a few bar stools by the counter. Drinks cover cold beer, signature cocktails and a curated wine list, with snacks rather than full meals.

It opens in the evening only, from 6pm to 11pm with last orders at 10.30pm. The bar takes a seasonal break each year; in 2026 it reopens from 1 November, so check before you go outside the cool season. It suits couples and anyone wanting a calm riverside drink a short walk from the Warorot market area.
