Salt & Fire Rooftop Bar

Salt & Fire is a rooftop bar and restaurant on the 9th floor of the ICON IT mini mall on Hussadhisawee Soi 4, just north-west of Chiang Mai's Old City and close to Wat Lok Moli. In a city with few tall buildings, nine floors is enough for an open view across the low rooftops to Doi Suthep and the mountains on the western horizon.

The terrace is laid out with palms, potted plants, low lanterns and lounge seating around a long bar. The kitchen mixes Mediterranean favourites with Thai classics, and Time Out rates the pizza a strong contender for the best pizza with a view in town; the cocktail list is well made, and a DJ plays on some evenings.

Salt & Fire opens daily from 5.30pm to midnight. Arrive before sunset to watch the light fade over Doi Suthep, then stay for dinner. It is one of the more polished rooftops around the Old City, and prices sit towards the top end for Chiang Mai.
