Top of Hanoi sits on the open roof of the Lotte Center tower in Ba Dinh, 65 floors above Ba Dinh. The terrace wraps right round the building, so you can follow the sunset west and then watch the lights come on across the Old Quarter, West Lake and the Red River plain.
The bar runs as a sky-high brasserie: signature and classic cocktails, premium spirits and wine, with an open kitchen turning out Asian and Western plates. A live band plays several nights a week and gives the place a relaxed lounge feel rather than a club one. Reviewers put cocktails at roughly six to ten euros, which is fair for the height.
The dress code is smart casual, and slippers and sleeveless shirts are refused. It opens at 5pm and gets busy around sunset, so arrive early or call ahead. Good for a first-night view of the city or a drink after dinner in Ba Dinh.
