Santanera is a three-storey Latin-Mediterranean restaurant on Jalan Tanah Barak in Canggu, among shops and rice fields. Its rooftop bar sits at the top of a spiral staircase. The terrace is part open-air and part covered, hung with plants and vines, and has a DJ booth and murals by Bali-based artist Kuro Neko. It looks out across the surrounding area, and the venue compares it to a Barcelona roof terrace.
The menu sticks to drinks and aperitivo. Cocktails include Picante 38, made with tequila infused with Carolina Reaper, an Oaxacan Negroni with Montelobos mezcal, and a house Sangria de la Abuela by the jug, mostly priced at IDR 130,000 to 180,000. Snacks include empanadas, wagyu tartare tostada and cheese. Main courses are only served downstairs.
The rooftop opens at 6pm daily. Walk-ins are welcome, but booking helps at weekends. Arrive around 5.30pm for a sunset seat.
